Join the acclaimed Bookshop Band for a chilled out Sunday lunchtime performance. The artistic love-affair between a group of award winning songwriters and an independent bookshop in the UK, Mr B’s Emporium of Reading Delights - between them Beth Porter and Ben Please bring the books to the stage along with a multitude of instruments, which along with their distinct voices, create a cinematic sound that draws the audience right in to a highly intimate performance, at once touching and mesmorising, heart-wrenching and funny.
The award-winning Bookshop Band write and perform songs inspired by books, curated by Mr B's Emporium of Reading Delights. They have shared a stage with over 150 authors, including Philip Pullman, Margaret Atwood and Robert Macfarlane, and this summer release EMERGE, RETURN their new album produced by Pete Townshend. Between them Ben Please and Beth Porter (Lost Words Spell Songs) bring the books that have inspired them to the stage along with a multitude of instruments to create a cinematic sound. The New York Times:
“Not just good but achingly good”
BBC 6Music:
“It’s a modern day Twinkle meets fairytale-land for adults. You’ll be smitten.”
