We're delighted to welcome back Kings Heath author, Charlie Hill to The Heath Bookshop to talk about his new book, The State of Us: An Anthology.
Charlie Hill's second novel - Books! - was described by the Morning Star as 'a serrated little weapon of war' and by the Financial Times as 'sharp, funny and shrewd.' Since then he has written a number of satirical short stories, some of which appear in his recent collection 'The State of Us: An Anthology.' The book was well received and the novelist and critic, Joanna Kavenna called it, 'Wonderful - a collection of brilliantly inventive absurdist tales from our increasingly fictional reality' - but it also raised questions.
Join Charlie and Professor and poet, Greg Leadbetter to discuss the role of satire in the 21st century:is it possible to write effective satire today? What is satire for?
